So Jay Electronica is FINALLY give us some music to keep us waiting for that debut Roc Nation album of his. Seems like he's slowed down from being in the news jumping off and on planes with the wealth married woman, and is now in GO MODE.
Monday 23rd this freestyle over Drake's "We Made It" drops with Jay and Jay. And while Jay-E's verse is nothing short of dope, it's Jay Z's verse that has sent the internet rap tipsy with his direct response to Drake's Rolling Stone's article. Where Drake said "It's like Hov can't drop bars these days without at least four art references," Drake complained. "I would love to collect [art] at some point, but I think the whole rap/art world thing is getting kind of corny."
In my humble opinion, Drake isn't going to reply back to Jay Z. Does that make him wack or shook not at all. Sometimes you have to be smart and look at the bigger picture. Here are a few reasons I think won't happen:
1. He's probably listened to the track like 50 times already (cause us Rap fans damn sure have), and admit "Well I did throw this first jab, so I should have expected this."
2. Remember when Common and Drake were at it (Some say because of that Nubian queen Serena), and that beef got squashed. As popular and dope Drake is, someone got in his ear and must have reminded him, Common is a vet when it comes to rap beef (ask Ice Cube).
3. You'll still yet to reply to this........
or this
4. Someone at Cash Money/Young Money already sent shots at Jay. Wayne tried to get Jay's attention a couple of times, heard nothing from it. Then poof Jay dropped just two lines at him on the La Familia track from Magna Carta Holy Grail album. No response back from Wayne (but Carter 5 is on the way).
5. Must important of all, you idolise Jay Z............
Drake - Fear (2nd verse)
Hot 97 interview for release of Nothing Was The Same.
Don't get me wrong it would be fun to see Drake say something back on a track to see if we get something more Jay. But I ain't holding my breath on that one, plus Drake too busy making the sweet music of love if reports true that he's back with Rhi Rhi (we ALL got time for that). This is Rap and the culture of Hip Hop loves a little shake-up every so often.
