Jay-Z Concert

Jay put on his "I'm not a businessman, I'm a business man' hat on for two days last week. We've all heard by now Jay has put on the gloves and has gone in direct competition with the online streaming giants to provide a top quality alternative artists driven service. So what better way to plug the vision (not the one from The Avengers) of your latest ventures, then to offer a concert directly for the subscribers of the service.  This wasn't the typical Hov concert, this was rare songs better know as the B-Sides. Checkout the full concert here...... Oh yeah great surprise in-store during the set.

Documentary: The Jay Z Story

Finally we get the story of Jay Z from the streets of Marcy Projects Brooklyn, to stages around the world. Documentary features Kanye, Beyonce and Nas, very inspirational story.

#ThrowbackThursdays: Roc-A-Fella Records edition

Name: Roc-A-Fella Records

Formed: 1996

Agents: Jay Z x Memphis Bleek x Beanie Sigel x Kanye West x Cam’Ron x Freeway x Peedi Crakk x Juelz Santana x Young Gunz x Omillio Sparks x Oschino

Assignment: Takeover the Hip Hop world

Result: Legendary status

"Your about to witness a dynasty like no other"

So it all stated with an album called Reasonable Doubt that featured records like this:

Jay Z - Dead Presidents

Roc-A-Fella records releases it’s first full album, and thankfully Jay didn’t retire after that album and continued to help grow the label. Next up to bat was Memph Man:

Memphis Bleek x Ja Rule x DJ Clue - My Mind Right

Did this label have the best artist line-up during its glory run? Was the beat production team Roc-A-Fella had access to from Yeezy, my bad Kanye West back then. Just Blaze and the let’s not forget the damn Heatmakers (Dipset’s Dr.Dre) not the envy of many rappers?

The Diplomats - Dipset Anthem

Freeway x Jay Z x Beanie Sigel - What We Do

Beanie Sigel - The Truth

With the vision of Dame Dash, lyrical skills and swagger of Jay Z and the behind the scenes finisher Biggs, Roc-A-Fella become the force that took over the Hip Hop world. I hold my hands up and confess, during the College days I was an un-official mascot for Roc-A-Wear.

Amil x Memphis Bleek Beanie Sigel x Jay Z - 4 Da Fam

Cam'Ron and his Diplomats crew found a home to unleash the double disc classic Diplomatic Immunity off the back of the crazy dumb heat they created with their mixtape series. Cam'Ron released the Roc debut album "Come Home With Me" and the Just Blaze smash (which got Cam on Top Of The Pops, remember that show?):

Cam'Ron x Juelz Santana - Oh Boy

Beanie Sigel x Freeway - Roc The Mic

From Movies to Vodka, Roc-A-Fella had ish on lock. One of Roc-A-Fella's movies Paper Soliders has a pre-super super super super famous Kevin Hart in there.

Jay Z x Memphis Bleek x Beanie Sigel x Freeway - 1-800 Hustler

Damon Dash would speak at such a pace and be so slick with it, he'd make you enjoy salt thinking it was sugar. Dame was nice like that and he could talk his shit to....
Roc-A-Fella - We Are The Champions (fan made video)

Young Gunz - Can't Stop Won't Stop

Freeway x Peedi Crakk - Flipside

Jay Z x DMX x Memphis Bleek x Beanie Sigel - Money, Cash, Hoes (remix)

Kanye West - The New Workout Plan

Beanie Sigel x Peedi Crakk - Gotta Have It/Flat Line

Peedi Crakk x State Property - One For Peedi

Bad Boy did provide platforms to the greatest The Notorious B.I.G. and one of my other favourite rappers Ma$e and of course the shiny suit era. But did it make such an impact as Roc-A-Fella on a whole?

Despite everything that has happened, the chain remains the same and a clear reminder that this record label gave us Hip Hop classics and a movement. #Legendary

Interview: Vibe Magazine x Dame Dash - My Philosophy

Vibe Magazine caught up with Dame and got his thoughts on many things, as the title would suggest "My Philosophy" this is a good guest to get on board. Many things are discussed in this three part interview.

As a fan of Dame, I'd suggest you check out an interview he did earlier in the year on the Combat Jack Show.

Photo: The chain remains

This is my era and I'm happy to see this. Listen back to Jay interview where he states he has nothing but love for Dame. Roooooooooc-A-Fella Ya'll

Interview: The Combat Jack Show - Dame Dash

Dame shares alot in this interview courtesy of The Combat Jack Show. What truly inspired Dame to become one of the industries most legendary record label owner. Aaliyah, the years after Roc-A-Fella and Jay-Z and much more. Oh yeah did you know one of Roc-A-Fellas hottest producer Just Blaze didn't speak to Dame for 10 years? Thought not!

R-O-C reunion officially had a concert,  this is what it looks like. No Jay-Z though but hey Roc-A-Fella had spitters.
